Find out how to create read-only users that cannot create new reports/dashboards.

GoodData
We are considering a guest role that would only allow user to use the dashboards. A user in the guest role only see dashboard. Can't even log into GoodData app that allows him to create/modify reports. This is on our mid-term roadmap.

I agree this would be a very useful feature especially when you have a user base with varying ability levels. One must be careful not to kill one of GoodData's strongest features and that is the ability for any user to slice and dice. That said it it would be possible for a power user to create a dashboard and for the guest user to use as a jumping off point and then if they want to alter any of the reports they can but save them to a save it to a 'My Reports' folder which he could refer back to, reuse and share without altering the initial report. This way Power users could creat 'templates' which less skilled users could then use as a starting point. That said a 'return to default' feature would also be nice.

GoodData
We have started working on this one already. The delivery will spread over multiple phases. We will start focusing on the dashboards first. In the first phase, we disable all cross links from the dashboard to the analytical app for users with the 'dashboard-only' role. In the second phase we will disallow the 'dashboard-only' users to access the analytical app. Then we will implement the access control on top of the dashboards and the reports.

We have implemented the "Dashboard Only" role that covers the requirements above.
